Last thursday Eric had a couple of follow up dr appointments down in Seattle. Everything looked great at the ultra sound, his blood flow had slowed down a bit which was a good thing. If the blood is flowing too fast that could indicate that the TIPS is starting to clot which is something we do not want to happen. After that appointment we were able to have a nice lunch and walk around through downtown Ballard. The best part of the day was getting to see the Northwestern from the show The Deadliest Catch at the Ballard ship yard! It was very cool, definatly not as big as you would think for being on there on those high seas...unfortunatly Captain Sig was not around:( Still very cool. Then were made it to SCCA where we met with Dr Hendrie who is Eric's hematologist. There was a bit of a scare to start off with because Eric has been Anemic since he had his procedure done in January. He had his blood drawn at the University that morning before the ultrasound and his anemia levels were extremely low. Normal is anywhere around 45 and he was in at 17! Dr Hendrie was quite confused and kept asking if Eric was tired or worn out. After discussing the possiblity of doing a blood transfusion thinking that Eric was forming a allergic reaction to the shots that he takes he decided to have Eric's blood drawn again. So we went to the lab and then back up to Dr Hendries office to wait for the results...PHEW luckily he was back to normal, some how there was an error made at the university. Dr Hendrie is wanting to continue to see Eric on a montly basis to ensure he stable with his blood counts, and then hopefully get to the point to take him off of the Lovenox shots and back on to Coumadin for his blood thinners. Eric is super excited for that day! After he is stable he will be able to have his blood drawn in Lynden at the local lab and just go to SCCA to see Dr Hendrie on a monthly basis. Eric also will have another Ultra Sound done in May at the UW and if everything still looks good we will be able to have them done in Bellingham which is a lot closer. Kane is doing good as well, he's crawling all over the place and walking with his car like crazy! I'm sure it won't be too much longer and he'll be walking on his own.
