Mothers Day weekend

This weekend we are headed to Pearygin Lake to camp with my mom, Donnie and Susi, and Shelby. Should be a blast! It will be so nice for everyone to be together. This will be my first mothers day not being pregnant and I am so thankful for Kane, he has truly changed my life and I look forward to all the fun things we will get to experience together. Donnie and Susi are going to bring their pontoon boat so we can do some fishing which will be fun! I am so excited to see Kane playing in the sand, and the fish:)

It's been a while...

Things have been super busy with our family lately so I have'nt have much time to blog. In the past few weeks Kane got his first haircut and did such a great job in the chair. Also he is WALKING, yes I said it walking. Hes doing so good and such a little man now that he is fully on the go. Eric has been doing a barge here and there but mostly staying home and enjoying Kanes company, I am super jealous every day I get up for work:) The weather is starting to get nicer and I have actually got to plant some flowers in my baskets which are doing great. Today Eric had a ultrasound for his 3 month checkup on the TIPS, the U/S tech that did it said that everything looked great so now we wait until the final word from the UW that things are working well. We are so blessed and thankful for our healthy lives and the people in it.

Today was such a great day! Eric went down to Seattle to do a barge with Tim so Kane was able to go play with grandma Terri and uncle Lance while mom and dad were at work. I actually ended up getting off of work early which worked out great because I had to go back to Lynden to get Kane and then head to Stephanies baby shower at Milagros. It was such a blast to spend some time with the girls from our old team and of course Kane and Caden:) We had some good food, played some fun games and Steph got some great gifts! It was definatly nice to spend some time with some girls and chit chat. Something we need to do more often! After the baby shower Kane and I ran to Costco real quick and then back home. When the boys got home from work we went to Mi Mexico for dinner. At dinner Kane was in his high chair and the people in the booth next to us kept taunting him (they were old too). After the first time Kane started crying I looked over there, and then back to Kane. Then they KEPT doing it and everytime he started crying. So i moved his high chair so he couldnt see them and he kept trying to look over there. When he wouldnt stop I finally put him on my lap for the rest of dinner. HOW RUDE!! If he dosnt like you smiling at him and talking to him then STOP! I was so pissed, they got up and left and tried to say "I dont know why we couldnt get him to smile..." Leave! I just kept saying "ive never seen him do that to anyone" hoping that they would feel bad but no such luck...Poor little man.

So ready for some time away...

We are planning on heading back to Colville/Spokane this next weekend March 12-15. It will be so nice to go back and visit everyone, we havnt been over there since November right before Thanksgiving. Kane was only 5 months old at that time and boy what a difference in the last 4 months. We have been able to see our parents and siblings in the last few months but it will be nice to see friends and our extended families. It sounds like Eric may have a barge late next week so we will cross our fingers that it comes early so we are still able to go. It will be a long drive for Kane but hopefully we can find enough things to keep him entertained and stop along the way to let him stretch. So excited and ready to have some time away and enjoy our friends and families!

Things are starting to turn around...

Well it finally seems as though things will be headed in our direction for the first time in quite a while! Erics unemployment has finally come through after 5 months of waiting. Woo hoo! his previous employer does still have the ability to appeal the decision made within the next 30 days so we will keep our fingers crossed:) Eric has also been fortunate enough to be working with Rob and Vicki doing barges as they come. We are so thankful that he has the opportunity to work a little each week and slowly ease back into things after having time off and his surgery. It's been so nice for him to be able to stay home with Kane while I'm working to save on daycare as well as it's a great way for them to bond:) We will continue to stay positive and always look for the positive in any situation and know that what's meant to be will happen. We are also hoping for the best to come with Tim in his situation with unemployment...

Last thursday Eric had a couple of follow up dr appointments down in Seattle. Everything looked great at the ultra sound, his blood flow had slowed down a bit which was a good thing. If the blood is flowing too fast that could indicate that the TIPS is starting to clot which is something we do not want to happen. After that appointment we were able to have a nice lunch and walk around through downtown Ballard. The best part of the day was getting to see the Northwestern from the show The Deadliest Catch at the Ballard ship yard! It was very cool, definatly not as big as you would think for being on there on those high seas...unfortunatly Captain Sig was not around:( Still very cool. Then were made it to SCCA where we met with Dr Hendrie who is Eric's hematologist. There was a bit of a scare to start off with because Eric has been Anemic since he had his procedure done in January. He had his blood drawn at the University that morning before the ultrasound and his anemia levels were extremely low. Normal is anywhere around 45 and he was in at 17! Dr Hendrie was quite confused and kept asking if Eric was tired or worn out. After discussing the possiblity of doing a blood transfusion thinking that Eric was forming a allergic reaction to the shots that he takes he decided to have Eric's blood drawn again. So we went to the lab and then back up to Dr Hendries office to wait for the results...PHEW luckily he was back to normal, some how there was an error made at the university. Dr Hendrie is wanting to continue to see Eric on a montly basis to ensure he stable with his blood counts, and then hopefully get to the point to take him off of the Lovenox shots and back on to Coumadin for his blood thinners. Eric is super excited for that day! After he is stable he will be able to have his blood drawn in Lynden at the local lab and just go to SCCA to see Dr Hendrie on a monthly basis. Eric also will have another Ultra Sound done in May at the UW and if everything still looks good we will be able to have them done in Bellingham which is a lot closer. Kane is doing good as well, he's crawling all over the place and walking with his car like crazy! I'm sure it won't be too much longer and he'll be walking on his own.

Here we go...

I was given the idea to start a blog as a easier way to keep families and friends updated on what's new at our home. I thought it was a great idea so here we go...
